Universal lifting and lashing points September 1st 2004 New universal lifting and lashing points have been introduced by RUD Chains.
The company says experience has shown that only 50% of lifting operations use a hook at the end of the sling leg. The rest are ring assemblies, basket chains, round slings and so on. For these operations, the user has to make expensive and time-consuming improvisations to effect a safe connection to the load.
The company believes that, until now, the design of lifting points has not seriously considered the extent to which loads have to be turned and twisted during the handling process. With such movements, the load can be damaged and/or the lifting system overloaded.
With the new PowerPoint Star system, all common sling types can be quickly and safely attached without using additional elements enabling shock-free tilting, turning and twisting of the load. This is achieved through the captive double ball-bearing assembly.
The PowerPoint with safety hook provides flexibility for connection to a wide variety of end terminations on the lifting sling. A bolt-on version comes in standard and special bolt lengths, while PowerPoint’s clevis pin is designed to accept a direct chain connection. More articles from Rud Chains Limited: |
