Theft tracked September 1st 2005 When a Kubota mini excavator was reported stolen, it was recovered soon afterwards thanks to a GloMoCo GEMini Secure Plus security tracking device.
The KX71-3 was being demonstrated by Kubota dealer, BTE Plant Sales, and was stolen at 8.25pm. The tracking device sent an alarm by text message to Kubota. The company did not react immediately as it assumed it to be the dealer moving the machine.
Over the next half hour a series of tamper alarms were transmitted as the machine went south along the M1, stopping eventually at Brampton, South Yorkshire. The geo-fence alarm was re-initiated in case the machine moved again.
The next day, Kubota confirmed the machine had been stolen and, at 9.10am, the dealer went to the GPS location in Brampton with police who found the machine surrounded by itinerant travellers. |
