Automatic strapping July 1st 2007 Pontrilas Timber has
invested in a specialist
automatic strapping
machine from Mosca for
the bundling of its
products. Pontrilas
operates two sawmills on a
24 acre site, supplying soft
and hardwood products for
the construction, pallet
packaging and fencing
industries. The bulk of
Pontrilas' end of line
operation uses manual
strapping, but when the
company upgraded its
timber sorting and
handling machines in the
softwood sawmill, it
recognised that it needed
to invest in automatic
strapping to keep pace
with the new equipment.
Phil Hulbert, software
manager at Pontrilas,
selected Mosca's KOF-611,
a machine for the strapping
of larger bundles of timber
up to 1200mm x 1200mm.
The machine features
Mosca's KSR-2 frictionweld
sealing head with
extended seal for high joint
efficiency and uses
polyester strap for
increased strength.
At Pontralis, the machine
is strapping 350- 400m3 of
wood per day, an average
of one timber bundle every
two to three minutes. More articles from Mosca Direct Ltd: |
