Security role
September 1st 2005

Conveyor Systems has designed and supplied a system to transport plastic tote trays through an automatic security wrapping system at Tesco’s DC in Milton Keynes.

To provide security of non-food items, the company introduced an anti-pilfering process, part of which necessitated tightly wrapping high valued items in tote boxes with a red film made specially for Tesco.

Tesco dollies carry stacks of 2 to 12 tote boxes, with a weight of 500kg. These are positioned on chain conveyors feeding through a stretch wrapper, and off-loaded for marshalling prior to despatch.

Following picking of non-food items, tote bins are positioned on dollies and carried to the traffic light controlled automated infeed cell.

CSL provided written functional design specifications and interfaced the system with an automatic stretch wrapper from Adpal. The system has control panel with thumb wheel switches for maintenance/ troubleshooting operations.
