Temporary structure January 1st 2008 Rubb Buildings has supplied a
temporary structure for engine
maintenance and repair at US rail
firm, Amtrak.
The construction comprises a
galvanised steel frame with a high
strength PVC-coated polyester
membrane. Limited foundations
were required and the structure
was erected over existing railroad
tracks, saving time and money.
Working with Nason Construction
and Amtrak's designers, Rubb
devised a structure measuring
39.63m span by 54.88m long.
Using the track already in position
provides an easy entrance and exit
to the site and allows maintenance
crews to work under cover. Access
is via four roller shutter doors.
A white semi-translucent roof
fabric provides a bright interior;
energy costs are lowered as the
need for artificial lighting is
reduced in daytime hours. More articles from Rubb Buildings Limited: |
