Better workflow March 1st 2004 The ABC SPAX distribution centre in Staffordshire uses EDI systems to build and despatch precision-made screws all over the UK.
Screws arriving from abroad used to be unloaded, separated and emptied into cardboard boxes on racking. To allow picking, the front of the box would be torn off and, after only a few uses, it would need replacing.
The switch to 700 plastic Distribution Picking Containers (DPCs) from Allibert Buckhorn has significantly speeded up the companys picking and stock turnaround times.
Martin Arrowsmith, ware-house manager, says The sliding door and multi-fold lid give easy access to the containers contents for order pickers while on shelving. DPCs can also be used for storing overflow stock on overhead racking, with containers simply brought down and slotted into place to carry on the picking process. More articles from 3M UK PLC: |
