DUAL ROLE FOR ARTICULATED TRUCK
March 1st 2005

Westex is an order fulfilment house or third party logistics company that has grown rapidly and now has four distribution centres. It firmly believes the articulated Bendi forklift from Translift is the way forward for VNA storage.

At its East London warehouse, for example, a mixture of two VNA man-up combi trucks, reach trucks and counterbalanced forklifts are used. Most aisles are 1.8m wide. Wessex tries to arrange most of its order picking at ground or low level storage, with replenishment from bulk positions above.

Racking in the Westex centre is 8.2m high, which the Bendi can access with 1t loads. The company also offers Bendis that can store 12.5m high, and its VNA model can work in aisles just 1.6m wide.

With side shift and driveroperated keypad, the 2t capacity Bendi at Westex handles literature and cardboard on standard pallets and sometimes doubles as a yard truck for loading/unloading lorries.
