Impressed by PDA’s capabilities January 1st 2005 A-Plant has successfully completed an 18-month trial using Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) that could see each of its drivers, sales team and depot managers armed with a handheld computer to enhance efficiency.
The PDAs have been trialled by drivers and depot manager at A-Plant’s Trenchless Technology depot in Staines.
By communicating with A-Plant’s existing MCS rental management system, that connects each of the firm’s depots and its head office, PDAs are able to record vital information, such as availability of stock and delivery times, as well as reserving plant and tool items while drivers and sales staff are on site, calling up invoices onscreen or e-mailing and faxing directly from a PDA.
Andy Wortley, director of operational applications, says “We have invited some major account customers to see the PDAs in action and they have been highly impressed by their capabilities and the enhanced efficiency they can deliver.” More articles from A-Plant: |
