Key to safety May 1st 2005 Christian Salvesen has installed Castell’s Salvo safety system across its Bury distribution site to protect staff from drive-aways
On arrival, drivers must collect a Salvo lock from the office while handing over paperwork. Once the trailer has been reversed into the allocated bay, the emergency airline is removed from the bulkhead and Salvo is fitted onto the airline coupling. The key held in the Salvo can then be removed and is inserted into the electrical switch next to the loading bay’s doors
This action prevents the trailer from being moved and powers up the bay, releasing a corresponding key inside the bay. The warehouse operative can then release the dock leveller and, by inserting their key into the electro-mechanical lock, free the bolt and open the bay doors.
