LIFTING EFFICIENCY BETWEEN FLOORS July 1st 2005 Two lifts for carrying goods and personnel together are providing efficient, economical materials handling facilities between four floors at the 9000m2 distribution centre of a mail order catering equipment supplier near Bristol.
Both lifts were installed by European Conveyor Systems and have a 2t capacity. Loads to 1800kg can be accompanied by one passenger, so they can be off-loaded immediately they reach the correct floor.
Lifts can carry pallets or cages to 1100mm wide by 1300mm deep by 2000mm high between the ground floor and three mezzanines at 3.6, 7.2 and 10.8m. One of the lifts also has doors at 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10m in readiness for four more planned mezzanines.
Lifts operate within a prefabricated steel enclosure with an overall height of 13 600mm and do not require a pit. Each installation was completed in seven days without any civil engineering work.
They are driven by an electric motor on top of the shaft and include parachute brakes, internal control panel, battery back-up for lights and alarm, and light curtains on entrances. More articles from European Conveyor Systems Ltd: |
