Power for Peugeot

EnerSys has supplied its Hawker Motive Power brand of batteries and chargers to power the lift truck fleet at Peugeot’s plant in Coventry.

The WF200 batteries are used in all the electric lift trucks that provide materials to the assembly line. Most handling is undertaken by counterbalance forklifts, from 1.6 to 3.5t capacity.

Battery charging areas are installed in three locations. Hawker supplied the batteries with speciallybuilt containers that have integral fork pockets on the upper edge. On the E35 3.5t capacity trucks batteries are removed from the rear, so pockets are fitted on the underside of the container.

This enables batteries to be lifted out by counterbalance forklift. Battery changing now takes one person about 4min.

Battery change areas have 60 Hawker LifePlus high frequency chargers that are said to offer energy efficiency that is up to 20% higher than 50Hz chargers.
