QUICK PAYBACK TO SWEETEN THE LOAD March 1st 2004 Two electric Bendi forklifts leased from Translift have helped improve product flows so much for a Norfolk-based confectioner, that payback is estimated at just over two years.
Based at Fakenham, Kinnerton has a satellite production and warehouse unit five miles away at South Creek which is where the Bendis work.
Under the former handling regime, vna truck drivers had to scan a pallet with their Radio Data Terminals (RDTs), then place the load at the aisle ends instead of where they were ultimately needed. This meant a pedestrian pallet truck or counter-balanced truck driver had to scan the pallet load a second time before it could be loaded aboard a lorry.
The two Bendis, however, need make only one scan because they do not need to interface with other trucks. As well as speeding up the operation, a lorry can be loaded by just one driver rather than the two or three previously required.
Equipped with side shift, the trucks work a three-shift day and can lift 1300kg to 6m, although Kinnertons loads are 0.25 to 0.5t. More articles from Translift Bendi Limited: |
