Racking aids efficiency January 1st 2005 Window profile maker, Fersina Systems, has increased the speed and efficiency of its national distribution centre in South Yorkshire with the installation of cantilever racking from Pro-Dek Storage Systems.
U-PVC profiles used to be block-stacked in the warehouse, but this was inconvenient and difficult to organise, with staff often having to move several stillages to reach the profiles.
The new racking allows a sideloader to handle stock and maximises storage volumes. Aisles are 2.5m wide and racking columns range from 4.5m high at the eaves to 6m at the apex of the roof. The tallest columns provide seven storage positions.
The installation has 280 separate locations for the stillages, which are 6m long, 1m deep and 600mm high.
Each one is supported by four 1050mm arms. These are connected to columns by heavy-duty pins with a quick-release system that allows them to be adjusted easily in 76mm increments. More articles from Pro-Dek Storage Systems: |
