When grass seed supplier, Barenbrug UK, redeveloped its storage and distribution operation in Suffolk, a Narrow Aisle Flexi G3 electric articulated lift truck helped drive down costs, increase storage density and warehouse efficiency.

The company recently installed pallet racking to create a VNA layout. The Flexi truck, supplied through BT Rolatruc, has full articulation that enables it to work in very narrow aisles.

Narrow Aisle says that, compared to a conventional reach truck, the Flexi enables operators to store about 30% more pallets, and it says that this saving can increase to 50% when compared to counterbalance truck aisles.

As the Flexi loads and unloads lorries and delivers pallets directly into racking in a single operation, it increases productivity and A bespoke handling system from Excel Automation integrates many differing conveying and transfer techniques to deliver precise, controlled movement to Aston Martin’s DB9 final assembly line.

Car bodies are carried into the trim and final assembly area by AGV where they are transferred onto a jig-slat conveyor. Doors are placed in carriers and conveyed by Excel standard belt driven 500UB series powered roller cuts out wasteful double handling.

The need for – and cost of – using reach or VNA trucks inside and counterbalances outside is eliminated.
