Storage for the RAF
July 1st 2005 SSI Schaefer has designed, supplied and installed a raised storage platform and goods lift at RAF Wittering.
The RAF, advised by the Materials Handling Trials Unit, wanted aircraft parts stored on the base rather than in Scotland by Rolls Royce.
The storage area designed by Schaefer is located in one of the aircraft hangars. A raised storage platform was created, longspan shelving and shortspan shelving were installed and the stores footprint made smaller, with a goods lift allowing store officers to use the raised floor area to double the storage space.
