Tesco is keeping up the pressure on competitors with a new logistics and point of sale solution for bananas.

The Wanzl wheeled Banana Cage keeps the fruit moving through the supply chain with minimal handling, cutting the risk of injury.

Finished in corrosion resistant zinc, the cage, loaded with boxes of bananas, can be wheeled directly from store stock room to sales area and used as a point of sale dispensing unit. When empty, units are returned to the stock room to begin their journey back up the supply chain and are replaced with another fully loaded cage.

Boxes are scanned onto the cage in the supplier’s distribution centre. The cage, holding 10 boxes, is then handled and scanned through the supply chain to shop floor, enhancing the speed and efficiency of Tesco’s banana logistics.
