High capacity racking
September 1st 2005

Cantilever and A-frame racking from Pro-dek Storage Systems is providing flexible, high-density storage for sheet and extrusions at Richard Austin Alloys’ new distribution centre in Coventry.

Pro-Dek planned the project to maximise storage capacity, and to allow use of counterbalance trucks and narrow-aisle sideloaders.

Sheet is stored on 7m high cantilever racking with arm lengths from 1100 to 2200mm.

Each column has seven arm levels, each arm being adjustable in 150mm increments. Arms have a nominal load capacity of 1.5t, so that up to three 1t packs can be stored on two arms.

Extrusions of up to 6m are stored in double-sided A-frame racks with adjustable spigot arms on each side.
