Modular to measure
September 1st 2004

Linde introduces its new very narrow aisle modular combination K range that can be tailored to suit end users specific requirements

With the introduction of the stylish, all-new range of combination trucks known as the K series, Linde has created a new modular concept for specifying the model to match an individual application.

There is no longer a range of models with specific capacities, but rather a selection of key unitised modules such as the mast, cab, chassis, drive unit, and turret head that can all be precisely mixed and matched to offer any capacity up to 1500kg.

Bespoke software has been developed to analyse each customer’s operational and structural requirements in order to identify the optimum modular specification to precisely match the demands of the individual storage and distribution facility.

This eliminates the potential for error and ensures the equipment will deliver the best possible performance within the very narrow aisle system to meet all the key expectations of the customer.

The new Linde modular K series is designed to meet the demands of intensive VNA storage applications, that involve a mixture of multiple level order picking and storage/retrieval of unit loads.

Linde has been manufacturing and supplying very narrow aisle solutions for many years, and the new K range incorporates many advanced features, which reflect this long experience.

Low step entry to the spacious cabin provides access to ergonomic, userfriendly controls, that enables the operator to intuitively master the various functions to complete the tasks with optimum efficiency and confidence.

The controls are mounted on a slim profile console, that is adjustable for ease of use either when the operator is seated for unit load storage and retrieval, or standing for order picking.

The anatomically contoured folding seat is adjustable for height and provides ergonomic comfort for the operator. The cabin is also hydraulically cushioned for a smooth working environment and interlocks protect the operator during all operational movements.

With picking and lift heights up to 14880mm and lift heights up to 14525mm, smooth, safe control is essential, and the Linde System Control (LSC) fitted to the new range, ensures smooth, fluent acceleration, travel and lifting movements for optimum material flow.

When travelling and lifting simultaneously, the smart control system automatically adjusts acceleration, top speed, and deceleration, according to the lift height at any given movement in the travel/lift cycle. this results in faster, safer, load throughputs.

Other key LSC features include: • Up to 15% energy regeneration on mast lowering • Synchronised reach and rotate movements • CAN bus technology providing continuous monitoring of truck systems • On-board or optional remote truck diagnosis via modem with memory

Advanced maintenance free AC technology is used for both the traction and lift motors to provide a powerful performance, that can be programmed to match individual applications as well as variable speed/torque ratios to suit the conditions.

A choice of 20kW and 24kW lift motor modules, and travel speeds of up to 9km/h and 12km/h, ensure precise matching to the operational requirements.

All end stop positions of the mast and turret head are cushioned for safe, precise load handling as well as operator comfort; and the specially designed low deflection, clear-view modular mast structure provides excellent stability and high residual capacities.

A wide selection of rotate and transverse turret heads or telescopic fork modules enables operation in every type of application handling all types of unit loads.

A new wire guidance system has been developed that in conjunction with the Linde system control, enables the VNA truck to acquire the wire much more easily and quickly for faster aisle transfers.

The new Linde K range with its modular concept offers the customer a simple and uncomplicated selection process, with the assurance that the specification will match their storage and throughput demands precisely while at the same time reducing overall handling costs.
