One Truck does the work of two
January 1st 2006

Commercial and aquarium lighting manufacturer Jerrard Bros, of Croydon, has replaced an 18-year old reach truck and a 25-year old counterbalance truck with one modified Bendi articulating truck from Translift.

The truck's mast height was modified to enable it to cope with the site's low access headroom.

The Bendi makes good use of warehouse space and is faster than the old reach truck. Owing to its articulation, the driver has a good view of the load when interfacing with the racking.

The truck has no rear end swing, a frequent cause of racking collisions and comes equipped with flashing beacon, bleeper and automatic engine cutout when the driver leaves the truck with the engine running.

Equipped with side shift, the BE 2052 Bendi can lift 1500kg to 5.2m, although most loads do not exceed 600kg.

Existing truck drivers received one day's conversion training; new drivers took a five-day course provided by Translift Bendi Driver Training.
