Managing explosion risks
November 1st 2006 Pyroban safety and environmental company has been awarded a major contract in Europe to help a brand in the food and flavours industry manage explosion risks from forklift trucks operating in potentially flammable atmospheres. A total of 90 fork lift trucks will be converted by Pryoban who will ensure that each one cannot be the source of an ignition when operated within storage and processing areas containing flammable material. Pyroban's award winning System 5000E gas protection has been selected for the trucks used within the warehouse applications because it ensures that the truck operator is continuously aware of the environment. Visual and audible warnings are provided followed by a controlled shutdown before an explosive atmosphere can develop. Other advantages include an automatic gas test ensuring the gas detection system is correctly calibrated and working properly each day for a wide range of hydrocarbons.
