Customised shelving

shelving system for
Mothercare's new
distribution centre in
Daventry has been customdesigned
by Troax.
Designed with safety
and ease of use in mind, it
has an integral back-stop
which makes it easy for
staff to load and unload
and prevents items falling
off the shelves.
The project was carried
out in conjunction with Bito
Storage, which supplied
shelving structures and
racking throughout the new
warehouse.
The shelving's integral
mid-span back-stop is
formed out of the mesh
panel itself, dividing the
shelf in the centre. Staff are
able to easily slide boxes
onto the shelving and the
triangular back-stop
prevents them from being
pushed too far. Boxes
cannot slip over the edge
of the shelving.
The wire mesh design
allows smoke and heat to
filter through the rack to
trigger smoke detection
