Fingerprints are the key May 1st 2008 All Cargo Storage Systems' new
vertical storage units will feature
the latest biometrics access
technology, the company has
confirmed. This will enable storage
lifts to be programmed to allow full
or limited access to the operator
on the basis of their individual
fingerprint characteristics.
The new software permits
management to deny access to
unauthorised personnel, and to
protect sensitive data or high value
items, the system can even restrict
access to specified shelves within
the lift.
A processor compares an
optical scan of the operator's print
and then identifies it within the
stored fingerprint records. The
system can contain an infinite
number of fingerprint records and
each can be programmed with
individual access parameters.
Operator history is recorded,
reducing incidences of fraud and
theft, with no need for passwords. More articles from CARGO Automated Storage Systems: |
