Maximum storage capacity
September 1st 2006

Foodservice wholesale distributor, 3663 First for Foodservice, has been able to achieve a maximum level of storage capacity at its newest site with the help of Link 51 pallet racking.

The Link 51 racking and shelving installation is divided into three distinct areas. About two-thirds of the racking space is given over to ambient storage. Here, 14 aisles of varying lengths some more than 60m typically feature bulk pallet storage areas with shelving underneath into which products are broken down to simplify individual picking procedures.

There is also a cold storage area where a similar blend of bulk and picking items is located. The third section is a chill store.

The design features a number of forklift access aisles at key points with racking (fitted with mesh to the underside for safety) retained above.

Bay widths to 4m are available in selected areas, for storage of up to three pallets per bay beam level.

The installation has been completed with upright protectors on all front faces and the extreme rack ends to minimise the risk of accidental damage arising from intensive forklift activity.
