Tank maker's sweet work

Specialist tank and vessel manufacturer, Cookson & Zinn, a subsidiary of PetroTechnik, has supplied five new tanks as part of a major development of the British Sugar facility at Bury St Edmunds.

CZ has manufactured two 40 000L horizontal tanks, one in stainless and one in carbon steel and three stainless steel 18 000L vertical tanks. These will be used in a new process to declarify raw sugar syrup.

Due to space limitations at the British Sugar plant, the two horizontal tanks were made in three parts at CZ's factory and transported to the factory where they were welded together by a team of specialist welders.

Paul McLees, British Sugar project leader, comments "It is a real pleasure to work with suppliers who meet their promises and allow forward planning to be implemented on schedule. The five tanks were delivered on time and on budget, as promised and with a high level of workmanship." PAT solutions In keeping with the IET code of Practice, the PrimeTest 350 from Seaward Electronic has an RCD test, a 250V insulation resistance test and an alternative leakage test.

The alternative leakage test provides an indication of protective conductor current or touch current without applying mains power to the appliance under test and can be used where transient suppressors or other components prevent an insulation test being carried out.

The lightweight, portable appliance tester incorporates all class I and class II required electrical safety tests in a compact, user-friendly design. Bluetooth technology enables the wireless connection of barcode scanners, label printers and so on.
