Static checkweighing solution

Weighing technology specialist, Mettler Toledo, has supplied a range of static checkweighing solutions to leading crab, lobster, prawn and shellfish specialists, The Cromer Crab Company.

Disappointed by the poor reliability and high cost of repairs of previous weighing solutions, Cromer Crab initially approached Mettler Toledo in 2003. They requested a solution that would stand up to the daily production line rigors of a major shellfish supplier and would prove impermeable to water ingress in a traditionally wet production environment.

Mettler Toledo suggested the latest stainless steel BBA330 IP69K protected scales and, after a satisfactory trial, eight units were purchased.

Impressed by the ongoing reliability of the equipment, Cromer Crab subsequently ordered a further seven 3kg 'wash down' static checkweighers in December 2004.

Having experienced greatly reduced downtime by eliminating breakdowns this also minimised expenditure on scale;e repairs, Cromer Crab ordered a further six scales which were delivered in the first quarter of 2006.
