Anti-lock-in device adapted for sliding doors November 1st 2004 Anew version of Castell Safety International’s Entry Safe key interlock controls access to hazardous areas, and can be fitted to sliding doors as well as hinged versions.
The product is normally used on machine guarding where tongue switches isolate machinery before access to hazardous areas is granted. The prevailing risk associated with tongue switches, says Castell, is that the operator may disappear from view after passing through the open guard.
Inadvertently, a second operator could lock in the first, putting him at risk when the machine is re-started.
Entry Safe addresses this danger by ensuring that the operator has complete control over the re-starting of the machine. It works by latching the door in a locked position. When the door is partially opened, Entry Safe unlocks and releases a key into the operator’s hand. This is retained by the operator while inside the hazardous area and during this time the interlock prevents the guard door being re-closed. More articles from Castell Safety International Ltd: |
