A flameproof light curtain that works without a separate control box is available from Scientific Technologies (STI), and is suitable for process industries where hazardous gases are present.

ATEX-certified, the simple two-box MiniSafe MS4600-EP is available with a resolution 30mm and in protected heights from 350 to 1219mm. Standard models have a range of 13.5m. Short range versions are also available.

The device has a cast aluminium enclosure and many of the features of STI’s standard safety light curtains, including individual beam indicators, exact channel select, floating banking, choice of operating modes, MPCE monitoring and a pair of PNP solid state safety outputs.
