To prevent musculoskeletal injuries occurring in a warehouse as a result of manual handling, picking zones must be correctly designed and operated. Linpac Storage Systems is a company that can advise on such issues.

To design a pick face that will optimise efficiency, the product must be presented to the picker in an easily accessible manner, with good visibility and without pickers feeling any physical discomfort.

Linpac says an area must be well lit and have a smooth floor surface for foot comfort. Factors affecting the type of load being offered must be also be considered - how often it will be picked, its weight, vertical lift region, and so on.
