Safety sensor
January 1st 2006

Following the launch of its noncontact BNS/AES door guard system, Schmersal has introduced the BNS 16 LR, a non-contact safety sensor that monitors the position of two sliding, hinged or removable safety guards.

The non-contact design means there is no mechanical wear to reduce the product's life and its closed housing and insensitivity to soiling make it suitable for hygienic applications or where high switching frequencies are required.

For an enabling signal to be given, the active zones on each side of the safety sensor must be actuated by the BPS 16 coded magnetic actuators that can be flexibly installed to safety guards regardless of local conditions.

The sensor is suitable for concealed mounting under nonmagnetic materials. Working surfaces and storage areas can be arranged without the need for dustcollecting edges or other cut-outs or projections.
