Procter Machinery Guarding is offering a free risk assessment calculator based on the requirements of BS EN 1050, the standard for machinery risk assessments. This will be sent by email upon request and can be used on PCs running Microsoft Excel.

Designed for ease of use, the calculator incorporates check-lists and look-up tables to enable risk assessments to be carried out on almost any static machinery. A Hazard Rating Number (HRN) and risk level are calculated automatically for each identified hazard, indicating at-a-glance where users should consider taking action.

The calculator is based on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, though very little knowledge of this software is required to use the tool.
