Pushing safety forward
March 1st 2005

A Super Pusher from Nu-Star Material Handling is used by Godwin Pumps to move large HL130 - HL250 Dri-Prime pump units around its manufacturing and testing facilities.

Pumps are mounted on skidbases and the finished product can weigh up to 5800kg and measure 4.2 by 2.1m.

Kevin Waldron, the assembly shop supervisor, explains “We have to move the pumps between several locations during the manufacturing process and this was taking up to eight people on the biggest pumps. Not only was this unproductive, it represented a health and safety risk to our staff.

“Using the Super Pusher with its steering arm one person can now safely push, pull and manoeuvre the pump all around the factory and into the test and paint areas.”
