An automatic spiral wrapping and banding machine from Aetna has improved safety for employees at Smart Systems. An audit of existing stretch wrapping machinery had highlighted a potential safety problem. Several machines were semi-automatic, so every time a change was made the operator had to reach into the machine.

A Robopac Spiror 400 HP fully automatic spiral wrapping and banding machine was subsequently installed and Smart Systems was impressed by the help it received both during installation of the machine and in training its operatives.

The machine produces a fast wrapping medium that is said to reduce transport damage. The stretch film keeps working throughout its life, achieving a tight pack. The system also eliminates wasteful cardboard packaging.

The Robopac can be modified to apply Carrs Rapaid, a technical film that gives a high mechanical resistance and a good substrate for printing logos and so on.
