HAV database is updated September 1st 2003 A survey of more than 1000 vibrating tool measurements has shown that new regulations will increase the proportion of operators likely to be exposed above the Hand-Arm Vibration action level from 48 to 67% after only 2h work.
The potentially serious cost and productivity implications can be minimised by planning the purchase of low vibration tools where possible and by implementing an extended HAV risk management programme.
A radically updated Hand-Arm Vibration database has been released by the Industrial Noise and Vibration Centre. HAV-Base is said to provide the largest database of accurate field tool vibration data in Europe.
The company says that eliminating expensive measurements reduces costs by more than 80% and the statistical vibration data for tools and activities is said to improve assessment quality compared with the conventional approach.
HAV-Base can be used to aid the selection of plant with the lowest real use vibration for purchase or hire, and provides extensive facilities to automate HAV management. More articles from Industrial Noise & Vibration Centre Ltd: |
