Meter check
July 1st 2008

Two new products from Pulsar Instruments are designed to lead to a significant improvement to noise measurements; the company has just obtained full and formal EU approval for its new acoustic calibrators – models 105 and 106.

Acoustic calibrators set and check the sensitivity of a sound level meter to ensure that it reads correctly. Pulsar says just a handful of companies world-wide offer Approved sound level meters, but that even with units from these manufacturers, all regulations insist that the meter is calibrated before and after every formal use.

The new Pulsar models with sophisticated sensors meet the two classes of the calibrator standard IEC 60942: 2003, model 105 at Class 1 precision level, normally for lab use, and model 106 for use in the field for health and safety measurements.
