READY FOR NEW LEGISLATION
September 1st 2005

With the new EU Directive on noise protection expected in April 2006, hearing protection equipment in the workplace will be compulsory from acoustic levels of 85 decibels.

Employers will be obliged to inform and train workers in noise-related hazards when sound levels exceed 80 decibels.

In response to this Bilsom, part of the Bacou-Dalloz group, has introduced 18 new earmuff models, 15 with Air Flow Control technology to combat low frequency vibrations, and three with integrated radio.

The Air Flow Control system lets air circulate freely from the inside of the ear cushion to the outside, helping to reduce vibration caused by low frequency noise. The Bilsom earmuffs can be used in virtually any environment where hearing protection is required.

Some of the earmuffs with Air Flow Control technology are for specific applications: helmet mounts to fit on hard hats, neckband earmuffs and folding earmuffs.

The company’s Radio, Electo and Electo H earmuffs with AM.FM radio have a switch so the wearer can select their band.
