Vibration database
July 1st 2004

Conventional hand-arm vibration risk assessment measurements can be time-consuming and expensive. Now, according to the Industrial Noise & Vibration Centre, they may no longer be necessary.

A newly updated database of field tool vibration data developed by INVC offers companies the attractive prospect of never having to measure tool vibration again.

HAV-Base is believed to be the largest database of accurate field vibration data available. Version 3 supports the revised requirements in the forthcoming regulations, extends the range of plant covered and has additional management tools to customise automated assessment reports.

This dovetails with the recommendation in the consultative document to use reliable published field vibration data in preference to measurement wherever possible. Declared values from suppliers cant be used for risk assessment. It can also cut costs.
