Cost effective access safety

When it comes to detecting and identifying products and personnel on the shop floor many potential problems exist.

These include keeping people out of harm's way, constant struggles with part pallets, issues with directional muting, product with gaps or voids, detection of shrink-wrapped documents and conveyor stops while the product is blocking the access guard.

If any of these sound familiar, then the features offered by the M4000 from Sick (UK) could offer a solution.

The device enables users to select the correct mix of functions for each application. The integrated laser alignment tool and muting lamp/status indicator simplify installation, commissioning and maintenance.

The modular range offers a variety of beam numbers, separations and ranges in combination with Type-4 safety in compliance with IEC 61496 and SIL 3 according to IEC 61508.

Depending on the version, there are numerous new functions and status indicators available, allowing rapid commissioning.

Features include beam coding, restart interlock, external device monitoring and Safety Data Link interface for safe network or fieldbus integration.
