Guarding system September 1st 2006 Troax UK has designed and installed a machine guarding system to protect staff at Harper Collins' distribution centre in Glasgow. Safety fencing encloses a complex layout of automated conveyors and cranes linking a buffer store to a picking area.
Conveyor lines were constructed in a newly extended part of the warehouse. Troax custom-designed the guarding layout using its Safe- Fix fencing system, creating safety zones around the potentially hazardous conveyors and cranes in an area of more than 50m2.
Safe-Fix incorporates Safe-T panels. These are constructed from steel tube and designed to resist distortion and deformation to provide physical protection for anyone working nearby in the event of an item becoming dislodged and falling from a conveyor.
Troax installed three step-over platforms that straddle the conveyor line at strategic points to provide access for authorised staff. Interlocked sliding doors provide access. More articles from Lee Manufacturing Limited (TROAX Group): |
