Guide to working with SF6 July 1st 2007 EA Technology has
produced the first
comprehensive guide
to working with sulphur
hexafluoride gas (SF6),
which is widely used as
an insulator and arc
suppressor in modern
high voltage industrial
switchgear.
Written in the style
of familiar Health &
Safety Executive guidance notes, it
is designed as a user-friendly guide
for field engineers working directly
with gas filled switchgear in any
industry. It also contains in depth
guidance for asset managers on
how to store, handle, test and
dispose of the gas.
"This is the first time all the
information about SF6 has been
pulled together and presented in a
single package. It can be used as
an operator manual, for staff
training and to formulate policy. It
will also help companies to ensure
compliance with the new European
Regulation No. 842/2006 on
fluorinated gases," said Gary
Eastwood, substations consultant
with EA Technology.
