Reel pushers take the strain November 1st 2004 M-real, producer of fine paper, has purchased two Nu-Star Reel Pushers for its Sittingbourne Paper Mill in Kent. They will be used to move 1.3m diameter reels of paper (weighing up to 3t) from the paper winder into an automated floor track or a temporary holding area.
Darryl Hardy, M-real’s finishing process support manager, comments We decided to purchase the Reel Pushers to speed the production process and remove any risk of back injuries to the staff that have previously had to push reels by hand.
The device is pedestrian operated and completely selfcontained with no trailing air or power lines. Power is provided by sealed, maintenance-free traction batteries and the matching on-board charger means the unit may be opportunity charged from any suitable 110 or 220V power source.
