Safety shields March 1st 2007 The Allison Engineering range of Safety Shields, designed to prevent liquid spray-outs from leaking pipe joints, are now being used as a control measure to help users of hazardous materials conform to ATEX 137 and DSEAR regulations. The company says that a growing number of its clients are often able to reduce the size of zoned hazardous areas, thereby saving money. The Teflon Spray-Guard is a multi-layered Teflon-coated fibreglass safety shield which can be made to exactly fit any pipe fitting, typically flanges and valves, but also couplings, pumps, tees, flexible hose, and even nonstandard fittings. The device, also available with a transparent middle section to allow immediate flange inspection, is suitable for the most corrosive and aggressive of chemicals. Alternative materials are available.
