Vacuum lifts
November 1st 2005

A-Plant has enhanced its hire fleet of equipment by taking delivery of more than 150 vacuum lifting machines by Al-Vac UK. The new order has been placed as part of A-Plant's ongoing efforts to assist the construction industry in reducing manual handling injuries.

The new vacuum lifting machines provide a mechanical lifting force to enable fast and precise pick-up and laying of kerbs and associated products. The HSE has recently governed that kerbs should be handled and laid mechanically in order to avoid the risk of injury associated with the repetitive manual handling of kerbs.

The new consignment of Al-Vac equipment comprises the Al-Vac Handyman, a battery-operated vacuum lifting machine that can be used to lift items to 160kg and the Al-Vac Handyman Mobile, a wheeled variant of the Handyman with a lifting capacity of 160kg and the Al-Vac 1600 Lux that can also be used to lift up to 160kg.

Also included are the Al-Vac Handy, a petrol-engined vacuum lifting machine with a lifting capacity of 1t, and the Al-Vac Combat that is able to lift up to 500kg, depending on the type of vacuum head fitted.
