November 1st 2004 DuPont Nomex brand fibre is available in a wide range of PPE, from turnout gear for firefighters to flame resistant coveralls for electrical workers and Formula One racing drivers, as well as poloshirts, underwear and socks.
The heat and flame resistance properties of the fibres last the life of a garment, through rigorous wear and laundering. Garments are tested on life-size mannequins.
Thermo-Man, for example, has 122 thermal sensors and assesses the garment’s performance under realistic flash fire conditions where temperatures can rise to 1000°C.
