Helps protect from burns January 1st 2005 BP protects workers from the burns that can result from flash fires with garments made of DuPont Nomex brand fibre.
The protection afforded is built into the molecular structure of the fibre itself. It does not come from chemical treatment or add-ons.
This means that the flame and heat resistance of the fibre is stable and permanent.
Nomex acts as a barrier from the outside by protecting the skin from heat and flames.
Garments made of Nomex also help manage heat stress from the inside by wicking away moisture from the skin and providing breathability.
When exposed to a flash fire, Nomex does not melt or drip and it will self-extinguish when removed from the heat source. More articles from DuPont UK Ltd: |
