HIGH SECURITY
September 1st 2005

The safety of maintenance workers several hundred feet above ground on Chichester Cathedral posed a challenge to those responsible in terms of variance in structure, edge proximity and exposure.

Assessment of the structure and associated risks resulted in the selection of Unirail and Uniline fall protection products. Unirail, a low profile extruded aluminium rail system, enables free movement, while minimising load transference to structure and was installed directly to the local chalk stone masonry.

Uniline is a 16mm synthetic horizontal lifeline that can span up to 30m when structurally fixed, minimising roof penetrations and leak potential.

The low profile systems help maintain the aesthetics of the Cathedral.
