Properly equipped to work safely at height July 1st 2008 The Health and Safety
Executive is warning
companies to ensure its
employees working at height have
proper safety equipment and that
the risk to them is fully assessed.
Falls are the most common
cause of death in Britain's
workplaces and a fall does not
have to be from a great height to
cause injury or death.
Arco, supplier of workplace
safety products and clothing can
advise employers on the latest
HSE regulations/legislation and
provide the correct fall arrest
equipment for the environment.
Its SMS training services team
provides 13 training courses,
including a wearers' course,
equipment selection course and an
equipment inspection course.
Courses can be tailor-made to
business requirements.
Jenny Smith, assistant product
manager for Arco, says "Over the
last 12 years, falls have been the
biggest killer in industry, especially
in the construction industry.
Shockingly, the majority of deaths
are workers not wearing fall arrest
kit, as opposed to workers wearing
fall arrest kit incorrectly.
"We're experts in advising and
supplying the correct equipment to
prevent falls from height and
subsequent training needs;
preventing falls is part of the HSE's
Injuries Reduction Programme." More articles from Arco Limited: |
