Solving the slipping problem November 1st 2006 Howco Whitman is a leading steel stockholder in Sheffield. Because of the nature of the work and constant use of oil, this heavy engineering plant used to have a problem with slippery floor surfaces, particularly near the work-benches. After examining several alternatives, the management have solved the problem by laying many metres of slip resistant Vynagrip matting. The matting was supplied by Rubber Safety Hygiene, one of the Plastex distributors. Made from PVC in a grid-welded format, Vyngrip is oil and chemical resistant and is hard wearing. The open grid format will dissipate spillage while the extra deep etched top surface slip resistance to DIN 51130:R12. The matting helps to reduce fatigue and is available in widths of 60, 91and 122cm and in rolls or modules. Standard colours are red, blue and black while Vynagrip Plus has safety alert yellow edges.
