The latest torque motor cable reel from Metool Products is described as the companys most cost-effective motorised reel ever. The Metorq range combines a newly developed third-party stall torque motor, together with standard Metool spring reel components to produce a reliable and economic unit. The company says that, in some cases, it will provide a lower cost solution than using a spring rewind reel. The reel incorporates an integral brake function to avoid cable loss and is suitable for continuous energisation, eliminating the need for associated controls. The single motor fitted to different barrel sizes offers two drive solutions for different travel speeds. This, combined with a large choice of sliprings, gives multiple variants to meet most cable requirements. All components are protected to ip55, and the drum revolves on sealed-for-life bearings. Metool says the reel is simple to maintain, designed for long life in arduous conditions and backed by extensive field experience throughout the world.
