 Weighing system for Zone 1
November 1st 2003

With the implementation of the atex Directive, companies are looking for suppliers who can provide solutions for hazardous areas and assist them in assessing the most cost effective ways of implementing new systems. Shropshire-based Polymer Laboratories recently completed a production facility for the manufacture of polymer based particles. An accurate means of batching chemicals was required and, since all weighing equipment would be in Zone 1 hazardous area, atex certification was a key factor. Applied Weighing provided weighing systems for nine vessels that incorporated Cleanmount weighing assemblies and Ultra load cells under each vessel leg. The weighing assemblies are easy to install and their hygienic design means they are suitable for any clean room environment. Control instrumentation was located in a safe area and connected via safety barriers. Each vessel was fitted with Uniprobe level detection probes.
