Better plant information November 30th 2005 Industrial software specialist Citect claims its new Ampla suite of Manufacturing Execution Systems hones manufacturing performance through better use of data – and helps bridge the gap between shopfloor and management. The customisable analysis modules target specific areas for business improvement, covering production, quality, tracking, downtime, cost, maintenance, knowledge, planning and metrics.
An ‘off-the-shelf’ solution which according to Citect, is simple to configure, change and use, Ampla connects to multiple plant and business systems, collects the relevant data and presents it in easy to understand, real time intelligence for productivity analysis, data mining, querying and reporting. Managers can select the information they need to make continuous efficiency improvements – e.g. identifying production bottlenecks, inhibitors to quality and root causes of delay.
Citect provides an example of such with Amcor Beverage Cans, based in Australia. Installed on top of an existing CitectSCADA system, Ampla has cut back the time it takes to collect and collate plant performance data from one day to a few minutes per month.
